The yellow SRi Astra we tested a little while ago was a great little warm hatch but the white GSe plug-in hybrid version, whilst still not a hot hatch, is most definitely much warmer. Pumping out much more torque and kilo-wattages, 360Nm and 165kW combined compared to only 230Nm and 96kW than the SRi, it really does feel much closer to a hot hatch than the lukewarm SRi.

Peugeot’s latest offering for the commercial sector shouldn’t disappoint those needing to save on their businesses bottom line when it comes to running costs for their tradies transport or delivery vehicle. Whilst the range, 339 kilometres (claimed), isn’t suitable for the likes of couriers that will travel many more kilometres than the e-Expert can manage, it will still be perfect for tradies, builders in particular that can charge it while at the construction site, or businesses that will only do a few deliveries or pickups a day. This will certainly make the company accountant smile when they crunch the numbers on the running costs!

The Opel Grandland looks like your normal SUV, or oversized hatchback, but it is more than just that. Flicking this family wagon into sport mode turns a normal everyday runabout into something a bit special guaranteed to put put a smile on your dial and probably your passengers as well, unless of course they scare easily!

Welcome to the Opel Astra SRi hatch. Astra has been in New Zealand for quite a few years now but usually behind Holden badging, and to be fair most of the earlier ones weren’t all that great despite the fact they sold well, usually to fleet buyers forcing sales reps around the country to visit their clients in them.

This has to be by far one of the best vehicles we have tested here at NZ On Cars. The Hyundai IONIQ 6 is absolutely loaded with all kinds of techy gadgets, roomy, comfortable, and crazy quick for what is basically a family sized sedan. Sure, the looks take some getting used to, and many out there quite simply cannot get past that. That is their loss. To be fair I wasn’t too crazy on the looks myself but after the first few days it really grew on me. It’s different, and that’s a good thing, it stands out from all the mundane average three-box sedan shapes that has been the staple design of family sedans for many decades. The shape of the IONIQ 6 is more than just a quirky, droopy shape, it has an aerodynamic drag coefficient of just 0.22, which is basically a scientific way of saying it can slip through the air more efficiently than a greasy eel.

Recently we tested the awesome little Opel Corsa-e. This time we have the epic little Corsa SRi running the efficient yet powerful 1.2 litre, 3 cylinder turbo engine. The size of this little Corsa mated with that engine, 8-speed auto gearbox with manual shift option and flappy-paddles makes for a fantastic little package. Responsive, nippy and a hell of a lot of fun.

Opel Corsa SRi is available for $36,990 with the current clean car rebate of $2,438.79 bringing it down to a very affordable $34,551.21. And I say ‘current’ clean car rebate because it is looking like that rebate will be scrapped soon for all vehicles running internal combustion engines, no matter how efficient they are.
